Holiday Rentals in Cuba - A Guide to Cuba
What’s in a name? Take a holiday rental in Cuba and you might expect to be in the Caribbean, but in Portugal, Cuba lies north of Beja on the wide Alentejo plains.
This small municipality has little to set it apart from numerous others in the Beja District. You will find the same wide skies, rolling hills and whitewashed villages shimmering in the sun.
Take a Cuba holiday rental in March, before the tourist rush, and you will be able to join in with the locals at the annual carnival.
Again, it isn’t quite the Caribbean but the music and costumes, together with the wonderful atmosphere make for a memorable experience.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Cuba
Like so many of the municipalities in this part of Portugal, farmhouses and cottages make up the bulk of the holiday rental properties.
Farmhouses to rent in Cuba are delightful whitewashed buildings, renovated to high standards and usually with their own pool. Many still have original features such as old ovens to give your Cuba holiday rental that little touch of authenticity.
Cottages to rent in Cuba are really just smaller editions of the farmhouses although some do not have pools.
The wide abundance of space on the Alentejo means it is quite possible you will not even see another building from your Cuba holiday rental.
Cuba Useful Information
This is a small municipality of only four parishes and the town of Cuba itself is really just a stop on the road between Beja and Evora.
It is a fair drive either south or west to reach the coast so a holiday rental in Cuba is not really ideal for beach lovers. It will be far more appealing to lovers of the outdoors – walkers, cyclists and riders.
Public transport does exist but in order to visit the surrounding area you are really going to need a car.
