Holiday Rentals in Mira - A Guide to Mira

Holiday rentals in Mira are located in the most northerly of the three coastal municipalities of Coimbra District. The beaches here are seemingly endless and far, far quieter than further south. In fact this whole coastline is a surfer’s paradise and sometimes the ocean can be a bit rough for all but the strongest swimmers. On those days, anyone with a Mira holiday rental can take advantage of the quiet lagoon found behind the beach at the area’s main resort of Praia de Mira. Here youngsters can play in paddle boats and the more energetic can hire a bike to ride around the lagoon.
In November 2010, the Daily Telegraph described Praia de Mira as “one of the best beaches in central Portugal, with silk-like white sand” In fact it is this silky white sand which has given its name to “The Silver Coast” and the numerous colourful fishing boats are excellent for posing beside in your holiday photos.
This coastline is less developed than the beaches of the Algarve but Mira holiday rentals are beginning to spring up as the summer tourists work their way northwards looking for an altogether quieter and more relaxing holiday.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Mira
There are a few up-market beach resorts to be found offering the full holiday experience – swimming pools, tennis courts, restaurants etc.
There are also a few villas to rent in Mira, often almost on the beach, and almost always with a west-facing terrace or verandah. Enjoy your cocktails whilst watching the sunset over the ocean. Even if your Mira holiday rental is not right on the beach but in one of the more inland villages, you won’t be far from the water and there are advantages in not having sand all around you and into everything.
If you fancy a day doing some sightseeing rather than sunbathing, the hills of the Serra da Estrela are not too far to the east, as is Coimbra city. You could even take a day trip to Lisbon or Porto.
